What We Provide
Never Alone specializes in overnight care for large breed dogs, providing a unique, crate-free experience in Ranson, WV. Our services cater to dogs that thrive in a free and harmonious environment with other canine companions. We transform our home into a haven for our furry guests, allowing them the liberty to roam, play, and rest both indoors and outdoors.
One of our standout offerings is our convenient pick-up and drop-off transportation service. We understand the busy schedules of our clients and aim to make their lives easier by offering door-to-door transportation for their beloved pets. This service ensures a seamless experience for both the dogs and their owners, from the comfort of their home to the cozy environment of our house.
In our home, dogs enjoy a range of amenities including comfortable beds, bowls, toys, and treats. Owners need only to provide their dog’s kibble for two meals a day. Our spacious backyard, enclosed by a six-foot privacy fence, offers ample space for exercise and play.
We pride ourselves on serving a limited number of client families. This approach guarantees that each member of our pack receives the attention and care they deserve, making our home their ideal home away from home. Our exceptional care begins the moment we pick up your dog from your doorstep and continues until we lovingly return them home after their stay.
Your Dog’s Rate
We charge $75 and up per night for one dog, depending on their temperament, habits, and needs. We offer a 20% discount for two dogs. The rate for each dog is quoted after we have completed our evaluation process.
Kennels charge by size/weight because they are filling different sized cages. We are very different. We do not quote a rate for a dog until after it has been evaluated and this is why: We don’t use cages or crates.
Some factors that might make the rate higher include:
- Reactive barking – for example, barking when they hear a noise outside or see a person walking by. When one dog barks, the others will likely bark, which is disruptive.
- Cannot walk up or down stairs – our bedroom is on the second floor, but we sleep downstairs with dogs that are old or sick.
- Medications – including pills, topicals, or injections.
- Special food prep or storage – we prefer to feed kibble only but will feed other types of food if necessary.
- Heavy shedding or slobbering
Members for Life
Imagine this: You decide on Wednesday to take a long weekend, so you text to let us know. We put you on our schedule and pick up your dog the morning of your departure at your house.
They get excited when you start putting your dog’s kibble into a travel container. When we arrive at your house, your dog bolts out your door and jumps into our vehicle without looking back.
While away, you receive daily photos and videos of your dog, which your kids love to see. Your dog has a blast here playing with their old friends. On the day you return, we bring your dog back to you, happy and tired. It is as if your dog spent the weekend with their cousins at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. What could be better?

Pack Etiquette
For dogs to live peacefully in a pack, they need to understand pack etiquette.
Do we think dogs should never be crated or left alone?
While I was pondering what to write about in my first post, someone asked me this, and it seems like a good place to start. We believe that different dogs have different needs. Not all dogs enjoy pack life. Some dogs prefer human companions over other dogs. There are...
